Chilton comes together for Kyran

Saturday 5th May 2012 saw the much anticipated fourth annual Daz’s Dazzlers v Tommy’s Tigers fundraiser, which this year was to raise funds and awareness for 8 year old Chilton boy Kyran Richmond and his fight against Juvenile Batten Disease.

Players and spectators turned out in force to have a very enjoyable match and raise money in the process. Daz’s Dazzler’s won the game after a penalty shoot out following a keenly contested 3-3 draw. Guest of Honour Kyran Richmond took and scored the first penalty in the half time kids penalty shoot out against “Mr Snappy” the goalkeeping crocodile. The fundraising continued at Chilton WMC following the match where a staggering £1650.00 was raised from player donations, raffles, auctions, a separate kids party and other activities.

Organiser Darren Williams said: “On behalf of Tommy Scott, myself and all the people who assisted in making our fundraiser for Kyran such a massive success, I simply want to say...Thank you!. When Chilton pulls together like we did, it just shows what can be achieved and I am delighted that we have been able to raise funds and awareness for Kyran and Juvenile Batten Disease. Everybody who helped, donated and got involved in our fundraiser ensured we had a special day for a very special lad. We hope the funds raised will go towards helping Kyran in the future and urge everyone to donate via his website. It was our pleasure to be able to contribute. Tommy and I would like to wish Kyran and his family all the very best for the future.”

Kyran’s mother Debbie Richmond said: We are overwhelmed by the amount of support & generosity that local businesses and the community of Chilton have showed and can't thank Darren & Tommy enough for organising the day! Kyran really enjoyed it!

In addition to everyone who assisted, volunteered and donated, Darren and Tommy would like to thank Sheltee Industrial Maintenance, Ferryhill Co-operative Funeralcare, Hydram Engineering, Parnaby Cyclones, Chilton Primary School, Sainsbury’s Chilton, Co-op Chilton, Sue Maughan at Chilton Post Office, A1 Chop Suey, Chilton Community College, Capital Radio, Chilton WMC, Woodham Golf Course, Newcastle Falcons Rugby Club and Alpha & Omega for their kind donations and support.
