Darlington Charity Cup

Myself and Roger Bradley resurrected the competition last season 2010-11, (it was first played for in 1907) we again chose a local charity or organisation, the reason being is that it feels good and we can relate to the person or persons that we have chosen. Kyran was an easy one for me and Roger to choose, Roger read a local newspaper with an article about Kyran’s plight and we connected straight away.

We would like to approach other sponsors so we can give more to our chosen charity. This will allow us to make people aware of the sad young people who need as much help from everyone and are living in our local community.
This year’s final was a great success and we need to thank Newton Aycliffe Sports Club for giving us their facilities for the day, Wear Valley and Witton Park Rose & Crown (the eventual winners 6-2) both put on a great game, unfortunately Wear Valley had someone sent off early in the game which gave the impetus to Witton Park, but a great day for everyone concerned, and it made our day when Kyran’s family turned up at the match, it made the hard work we put in all worthwhile.
